Privacy policy
Thea backups · effective 10 October 2026
Who this covers
Thea backups is a private tool used by one person, its operator, to back up their own assistant, Thea, to their own Google Drive. This policy describes what it does with data, including data received from Google APIs.
Data it accesses
-
Google Drive, through the
drive.filescope only: the files Thea backups created itself in the folder "Thea backups". It does not access any other file in the Drive. - The operator's own Thea database (the assistant's memory and conversation), which it backs up. This data belongs to the operator and stays under their control.
How it uses that data
- To upload encrypted backups to the operator's Drive, list them, read them back to check them, and delete the oldest ones.
- Backups are encrypted on the operator's server before upload; Google stores only encrypted files.
- It keeps 14 nightly and 8 weekly backups and deletes older ones from the folder.
Sharing
Thea backups does not sell, share or transfer any data to anyone. It shows no ads, uses no analytics, and sets no cookies. Data received from Google APIs is used only to provide the backups described above.
Thea backups' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and security
Backups are stored only in the operator's own Google Drive, encrypted with a passphrase that only the operator holds. The sign-in token for Drive is kept on the operator's own server.
Removing access and data
The operator can revoke Thea backups' access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and delete the backups by deleting the "Thea backups" folder in their Drive.
